Founder & Global Resilience Strategist
Lugine Gray is a U.S. veteran, Hurricane Katrina survivor, and global resilience strategist dedicated to advancing how communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from crises. As the founder of Disaster Science, he leads a multidisciplinary team of climate, architectural, and humanitarian experts working at the intersection of science, policy, and design innovation to strengthen resilience worldwide.
Holding a Master of Science in Disaster Resilience Leadership from Tulane University, Lugine has conducted fieldwork across Africa, South America, and the Middle East, supporting recovery operations, climate adaptation programs, and humanitarian coordination. Earlier in his career, he developed the nation's first statewide anti-trafficking model in Louisiana, applying disaster risk reduction frameworks to protect vulnerable populations. He has also led national trainings with the U.S. Department of Education on resilience and preparedness in student safety and emergency planning.
His work unites disaster science, social protection, and sustainable development, helping governments, NGOs, and private partners design adaptive, evidence-based strategies that bridge equity and innovation.

Merina Sofiati is a humanitarian professional with 17+ years of emergency response and disaster management experience across Indonesia and Southeast Asia. She has worked with the Indonesia National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB), the ASEAN Emergency Response and Assessment Team (ERAT), and the UN Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) Team.
An LPDP Awardee with an MSc in Disaster Resilience Leadership from Tulane University, she is currently pursuing her PhD at University College London's Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction, focusing on disaster preparedness and internally displaced populations across Asia.

Magaly holds degrees in Physics and Industrial Engineering, plus a Master's in Renewable Energy Technologies, and is pursuing a PhD focused on energy transition and climate policy. Her career spans clean energy initiatives, business development, and gender equity advocacy through partnerships with UN Women and Terre des Hommes Germany, alongside policy work with Bolivia's Plurinational Authority of Mother Earth.
She has taught at multiple universities and earned international scholarships for research on greenhouse gas reduction and climate governance across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. As she puts it: sustainability is not merely a technical goal but a transformative pathway.

Marcus Calhoun leads architectural resilience efforts with over two decades of experience spanning post-disaster reconstruction, nature based design, and green infrastructure. He is one of the nation's leading architects in disaster-resilient and sustainable design, merging innovation with environmental stewardship.
He holds credentials as a licensed architect (AIA member), a Leadership in the Future of Architecture (LFA) fellow, and a California Safety Assessment Program (SAP) certified assessor.
